Telegram Setup

1) Create a Telegram bot

Open @BotFather

In Telegram, search for @BotFather.

Create a bot

Send:

/newbot

Follow prompts and copy the bot token.

Treat the bot token like a password.

curl "https://api.telegram.org/bot<TOKEN>/getUpdates"

Look for a block like:

{"message":{"chat":{"id":123456789,...}}}

The id is your chat ID.

Store the bot token and chat id:

openclaw config set telegram.bot_token <token>
openclaw config set telegram.chat_id <id>

(You can verify with openclaw config get ....)

Send:

/ping

to your bot in Telegram. If OpenClaw is running and connected, it should respond.

If alerts are noisy, tune your OpenClaw heartbeat checklist and only page on persistent failures.
